Somewhere I Belong (women's fiction novel)

When Kate Mitchell becomes the victim of a spineless lie, her beloved fiancé-- wealthy heir and business man-- James Parker mistakenly believes she's a scheming, money grabbing liar and walks away from Kate as if what they shared had meant nothing.

Kate Mitchell is no stranger to desertion. She grew up in the foster care system of East Chicago after being abandoned as an infant, so when Kate discovers she is pregnant with James’ baby, she finds the strength to raise him alone--in secret--and vows to give him the love and affection she never knew.

Despite her broken heart, Kate loves the carefully sheltered life she makes for her and her son. But one night, her world is shaken when James Parker suddenly appears back into her life.

When James learns about the child he never knew existed, Kate’s carefully structured life suddenly becomes a minefield of uncertainty and fear. For not only does James hold the power to possibly take her son away from her, but he once again holds her heart in his hands.

As Kate watches the bond between father and son take shape, she guards her own heart; but it seems James is determined to settle the past once and for all and begin the family that should have never been divided.

With everything to lose and her own heart in turmoil, Kate must decide if she can once again trust in James and take her shot at happy ever after.
